Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph Perpetual Calendar

Vacheron Constantin have just announced a new perpetual calendar chronograph model in its sporty Overseas line. The case of this watch is both titanium and steel, sized at 42mm, and comes in a limited edition. A mouth watering prospect for collectors of Vacheron Constantin.

The only collection from the Geneva-based Manufacture to offer steel models, the Overseas line was enriched in 2009 with entirely grey-clad versions combining steel and titanium and featuring slate grey dials teamed with grey alligator leather or rubber straps.

228 part movement

The remarkable success of these distinctive models encouraged VC to round off this line with a model featuring the chronograph and the perpetual calendar. This new reference anchors the Overseas collection more firmly than ever in the domain of technical and sporting elegance.

The watch is powered by the 228 part 1136 P movement, which is based on the F. Piguet calibre 1185 chronograph – the same chronograph movement used by Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak Chrono, many Blancpains, certain Harry Winstons, as well as some other high-end watches.

There is also a perpetual calendar module created by Vacheron Constantin and rolled out in an earlier perpetual calendar chrono, the ref 49005. The movement has a 40 hour power reserve.

The watch comes in a 42 mm steel case, water-resistant to 15 bar (approximately 150 metres). The collection’s emblematic bezel inspired by the Maltese Cross is made in titanium – as are the pushpiece guards – while the steel case incorporates a soft iron cage protecting the mechanical movement from magnetic fields.

Another signature feature of the Overseas collection, the screw-down caseback features a medallion engraved with the famous Amerigo Vespucci three-masted sailing ship.

Limited edition

Only 80 of these watches will be created and all will be sold directly through Vacheron Constantin boutiques. The timepiece will be delivered complete with the grey leather strap and an additional rubber strap.
