To mark the new year of 2013, Vacheron Constantin released a collection for SIHH 2013 aimed purely at women. The versatile range incorporates something for all women – well, at least all women with access to a platinum credit card.

There are three main designs within the collection that fit the varying styles of upper class  heiresses and fortune holders all over the planet: Patrimony Contemporaine, Patrimony Traditionnelle and The Patrimony High Jewellery timepieces.

Patrimony Contemporaine Lady Gold Bracelet

Patrimony Contemporaine Lady gold bracelet

The 18k pink gold Contemporaine Lady Gold Bracelet comes in two styles; one which has a diamond paved dial and one which does not. Both styles, however, have diamond encrusted bezels fit for the lavish lifestyle of the ‘contemporary’ affluent female.

The plainer version of the two has an opaline silver toned dial which is framed by a ring of small diamonds leading into the glory of the sparkling bezel. The back is constructed from a transparent sapphire crystal, revealing the timepiece’s 2450 self winding mechanical movement. The refined technology, combined with the simplistic façade of the design makes it the perfect watch to seamlessly carry you through from winter to spring with no fuss.

The more glamorous of the Lady Gold Bracelet designs, is almost dripping in diamonds, with a staggering fully encrusted dial and bezel detailing almost 800 precious stones in total. I can see this timepiece’s expensive adornments glistening in the summer’s sunset throughout the rest of the winter and into spring. This time the case back reveals a, slightly differing, 2460 calibre that holds an oscillating guilloche pink gold mass, tying even its functionality as a timepiece into the design itself. No detail has been washed over by the meticulous designers at Vacheron Constantin.

Both new models meet the newly set standards of the brands renowned Hallmark of Geneva (Poinçon de Genève) that was re-established in 2011. The newly conforming designs convey the Contemporaine title in full; suggesting the modernity of not only the watches style, but the quality of its manufacture.

The traditionnelle designs are, indeed, more traditional. The watches façade consisst of  pink or white gold and, once again, incorporates round cut diamonds within the bezel (54 in total) which elegantly line the opaline silver-toned dial. This time however, rather than a bracelet, the timepiece’s 33mm case is supported by, either a midnight blue or taupe, highest quality, Alligator mississippiensis strap. The refined look of such an exquisite material compliments the minimal use of precious stones (in comparison to the other collections). This element of the design, combined with the mechanical manual-winding movement (calibre 1400) which bears Hallmark of Geneva, makes the timepiece suited to the appearance of a more; sophisticated, polished, wealthy women. The subtle sparkle of the exterior however exudes femininity and carries the functional piece into a world of poised glamour and stardom.

The high jewellery collection from Patrimony Traditionnelle is truly something spectacular to behold. The watches 35mm diameter and 40mm dial are fully paved with 16.2-carat claw-set baguette diamonds. Even the white gold case, dial and clasp are fully encrusted with diamonds so that not even a speck of light can penetrate the layer of precious stones. The round-cut diamonds spiral outwards via the centre of the face; each ring increasing in diameter until there is no gold left visible. The functionality of the watch; the mechanical manual-winding movement (calibre 1400), can be proven through the clear sapphire-crystal case back that allows viewers to observe the timepieces inner workings which have been hand finished to add true authenticity to the piece.

Despite the sparkling exterior of the watch which adds glamour and glitz to this exclusive collection; the timepiece is undoubtedly, not only a work of art, but a product of great craftsmanship that will serve the lucky owner flawlessly for many years to come.
