The Avengers, the latest blockbuster from Marvel Studios, took in $103.2 million to lead for a second-straight weekend, raising its domestic total to $373.2 million, and a worldwide haul of $1 billion according to studio estimates on Sunday. The movie cost $220m to make. With all these big numbers flying around both on screen and off, it’s not surprising that in the movie, veteran actor Samuel L. Jackson can afford to slip on a relatively puny priced Piaget Polo.

Jackson plays Nick Fury, leader of S.H.I.E.L.D., the top-secret government agency behind the formation of the world’s mightiest super-hero team. The Piaget Polo he wears is a masculine $35,000 chronograph from Piaget’s iconic Polo collection.

Powered by Piaget’s in-house Calibre 880P movement with a 50 hour power reserve, the model that Jackson wears in the movie has an 18k white gold case, silver dial and black alligator strap. In addition to its automatic chronograph with flyback function, the watch also features a dual-time-zone indication no doubt so that Nick Fury can keep one eye (literally) on another time zone. The 43mm diameter watch is housed in an ultra-thin case with a semi-circular big date window at 12 o’clock.

Jackson, an Oscar-nominated actor who has also appeared as Nick Fury in Marvel’s other Avengers-franchise films, including “Iron Man,” “Thor” “Captain America,” and “The Hulk,” is one of many Hollywood stars dressed by Piaget for films and awards shows. The brand is known for its association with the cinematic arts and is a sponsor of the Independent Spirit Awards.
