Jon Hamm

Some years before Mad Men became one of the top TV series around the world and gave us the stylish watches of Don Draper, Jon Hamm had made himself a promise:

If I can’t get it going by the time I’m 30, I’m in the wrong place. As soon as I said that, it’s like I started working right away.

But even he could not have dreamed of being a central part of the runaway success that is Mad Men today, with its fifth eagerly awaited season just approved to go into production later this year.

So it is that on Sunday May 15th John Hamm found himself in the company of other A list stars; actors and filmmakers attending the Art of Elysium 3rd Annual Paradis event at Hotel Du Cap in Cannes, France.

Art of Elysium

The Art of Elysium, a non-profit organisation founded in 1997, encourages working actors, artists and musicians to voluntarily dedicate their time and talent to children who are battling serious medical conditions. Jaeger-LeCoultre sponsored the charity event and made a donation to the Art of Elysium fund.

The event was attended by numerous stars including Kirsten Dunst, and Michelle Rodriguez. According to a well informed female eye witness known as Jen from www.dose.ca things didn’t really get going at the Elysium bash until around 2am, when Jon Hamm and long term partner actress and screenwriter Jennifer Westfeldt rolled in.

Under the sleeve of his smart black tux, Jon was wearing his Jaeger-Le Coultre Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Tribute to 1931 presented to him by Jaeger-LeCoultre North American President Philippe Bonay in January of this year.

The centre of attention

You could literally chart his progress though the room by scanning the crowd and seeing which women looked like they had just suddenly ovulated. To say Hamm was super nice would be an understatement. He posed for photos, mingled with everyone and was exceedingly awesome to anyone who approached him.

One thing’s for sure, with all the attention he’s getting noawadays, Jon Hamm wouldn’t want to do a ‘Grande Reverso’ to a time when he was a struggling actor in the pre-Mad Men era.

As for the Grande Reverso Ultra Thin itself, the super slim Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 822 ( just 2.94 mm) enabled the design engineers to build a Reverso slimmer than ever before. Its slenderness makes it both light and comfortable to wear thanks to its subtly curved shape.

The black dial with dagger-shaped hands and baton-type hour-markers are directly inspired by the original Reverso and express the very essence of the Reverso personality, making this handsome watch a real Donald Draper lady killer.
