Roger Sterling's Tudor Tuxedo, Pete Campbell's Hamilton Sputnik

Every once in a while we dip into the vaults of watchestobuy.com, the vintage watch website of Mr. Derek Dier. So knowledgeable is Derek about vintage watches that Matthew Weiner, the pernickety producer of the smash hit AMC show Mad Men, leased the watches from Derek for series 5, currently airing.

Don Draper's Omega Seamster Deville

Pictured is Don Draper’s Omega Deville, this 34mm watch has an automatic calibre 562 or 563, then there’s Megan Calvet’s Jules Jurgensen in white gold with diamonds, Roger Sterling’s Tudor Tuxedo and Pete Campbell’s Hamilton Sputnik.

Azimuth Ghost Chrono

But that’s not all. Also on Derek’s site is this very limited manufacture AZIMUTH Ghost Chrono measuring an impressive 43mm. Crafted in 316L stainless steel with a PVD finish, only 200 of these watches were ever produced, with this being #158 in the limited series.

Azimuth Ghost Chrono pushers

This Swiss made watch has avant-garde styling with green handed chronograph sub-dials and a half-moon direct-read time scale above.

The readouts glow a mysterious green colour in the dark while the crocodile strap’s stitching matches the green accents.

The watch is powered by a modified ETA Valjoux 7750 automatic winding movement and is water resistant to 50 metres. These watches sell for new at $6000 if you can get one, but the asking price is only $3,330.
