Top 5 summer haircuts for men

No matter what style you’re going for, having good hair is undoubtedly the centre piece to any guy’s look, but the truth is that so many men neglect it. This is a big mistake.

A lot of guys are happy to stick with the same hair style that served them so well through high school, but ten or fifteen years down the road, it should be high time for a change. You wouldn’t wear the same pair of pants for twenty years and the same applies to hairstyles!

Of course, picking a new hair style can be a daunting task, especially if you’ve been stuck in a rut, haircut wise, for what seems like a lifetime.

If you think that you are long overdue a fresh new style then now is the perfect time to get your ‘do’ in check.

With summer rapidly approaching (no, really it is) here is a guide to some of this year’s best summer hairstyles, with a few watch combo’s thrown in for good measure.

Clean cut – a slick side parting

Super precise, the classic side parting is officially back, although in all honesty it never really went away. A slightly longer side parting proved to be the style of choice for many guys during the winter months but as the weather starts to get warmer, it’s time for a shorter, more refined style – think about a similar look to Don Draper from Mad Men.

Of course there are tons of variations on this classic theme. For an even sharper, more dramatic result, make sure you get your hair clipped higher around the sides.

The watch – Longines Heritage Ref  L2.767.4.13.2

This Heritage watch from Longines was designed for Swiss pilot’s in the 1950’s, yet it still looks as sharp today as it did all those years ago. The watch features a 38.5mm stainless steel case that includes a sapphire crystal and transparent case back. Driven by a Swiss automatic movement and with a power reserve of 42 hours, this Longines Heritage automatic watch is the perfect match for your slick new haircut. Approximately £1,000.00

Up and away – slicked back

Fear not, you don’t have to be a member of One Direction to get away with a slicked back style cut. David Beckham, Leonardo Di Caprio, George Clooney and Gerard Butler have all sported this style in one variation or another just recently and let’s face it, if it’s good enough for these guys, then it’s good enough for you! Go for a shorter cut around the sides with loads of texture on top.

This article we ran a few weeks ago will tell you about the best hair products to help you achieve the slicked back look.

The watch – Breitling Navitimer World Chronograph

Picture the scene, slicked back haircut, aviators, leather jacket and this Breitling Navitimer. Featuring a calibre 24 automatic movement, which beats at 28,800vph, the watch has a power reserve of 42 hours. The distinctive silver dial is housed within a 46mm stainless steel case, complete with a cambered scratch resistant sapphire crystal. The Breitling Navitimer is also equipped with a bi-directional slide rule bezel for which the watch is universally known. £5,030.

The cropped comb through

This short cropped cut is perfect for summer. Really easy to manage and super stylish, it’s great for those who want to look cool without putting in too much effort. You can always use a bit of product on this cut just to give you that extra edge.

The watch – Victorinox Dive Master 500m

Much like a Swiss Army Knife, a Victorinox watch is robust, versatile and will never let you down. They represent good value for money, with most models retailing for sub £1,000. This Dive Master watch is driven by a Swiss automatic movement and is good underwater for up to 500m. In addition, it also looks good and is excellent both on or off shore. From £899.00

The peaked wave

Hugely popular in 2012, the peaked wave remains popular well into 2013. Despite looking like a lot of hard work, this style is surprisingly manageable. In  order to get the desired look, you need to create plenty of volume by using a blow-dryer and a rounded hair brush. It won’t take much and will leave you looking fresh. Apply a bit of product to add definition and you’re good to go.

The watch – Hamilton Jazzmaster Maestro

Another excellent choice for those looking around the £1,000 mark, the Hamilton Jazz Master features the same movement used in watches from brands that will cost you considerably more, such as TAG Heuer and Breitling. The Hamilton Jazzmaster Maestro, for example, is pretty much the same as a TAG Heuer Carrera, yet it costs half the price. Excellent news.

The buzz cut

Regardless of the latest trend, the buzz cut can still be found just about everywhere. Whilst for those who are getting a little thinner on top, the humble buzz cut might be all that one can muster up top. However, if you’re looking for a completely new look, which is nice and cool for the summer then this could be the cut for you. Virtually maintenance free, you certainly don’t have to worry about bad hair days!

The watch – Luminox Colormark 3050

The Luminox Colormark 305 is rugged and built to last. It offers a no nonsense and easy to read display, even when there is little light. Featuring a Swiss quartz movement the watch includes a uni-directional bezel that can display lapsed time. The green numerals and hands are treated with a special luminescent coating that comes with a 10 year warranty. Superb value at just £295.
