Chopard LUC XP Tonneau White Gold

Noted for their crisp, quiet good looks, Chopard’s L.U.C collection introduces a refined new model, the Chopard L.U.C XP Tonneau in white gold with a shaped movement that is COSC chronometer-certified.

The L.U.C XP Tonneau white gold model is an ultra-thin interpretation of the tonneau or barrel-shaped model with a pared-down dial featuring Arabic numerals. The new, slender case gives this watch a more modern elegant appearance.

The L.U.C XP Tonneau displays the hours, minutes, small seconds, and the date shown through a window at 6 o’clock. All these functions are driven by the ultra-thin, self-winding L.U.C Calibre 3.97. designed, developed, fine-tuned and produced in-house, this movement is a mere 3.30 mm thick with an off-centred micro-rotor and a double barrel supplying an over 65-hour power reserve.

The movement follows the contours of the case housing it – a mark of distinction matching the demands of Haute Horlogerie and it can be admired through the sapphire crystal case. The slender, slightly curving case makes for an excellent fit on the wrist and is available in 18-carat rose or white gold with satin-brushed and polished finishing.

The sunburst silver dial carries the new Arabic numerals, and a fine sunburst satin-brushed finish centred around the word CHOPARD, and comes on a brown or black alligator leather strap complete with a gold pin buckle.

Chopard was also much in evidence at Oscars night held recently. Colin Firth, who won the Oscar for his moving portrayal of King George VI in ‘The King’s Speech’, was wearing a Chopard L.U.C XPS in white gold with a black dial.

Penelope Cruz made a comeback after having her baby and wore Chopard’s chandelier-style earrings with yellow diamonds in yellow gold worn with a 10 carat pink sapphire and diamond (2 carats) ring.

And husband and Oscar nominee Javier Bardem wore a Chopard L.U.C. Regulateur white gold.

That same evening Chopard helped the Sir Elton John AIDS Foundation to raise US$4m for the charity at Sir Elton’s traditional Oscar’s night party.

Chopard’s next major starring role will be at Baselworld 2011 this coming Thursday.
