Leo Parker of The Watch Gallery shares his impressions of BaselWorld 2013

BaselWorld 2013 stormed into action late last week and, for anyone in the know surrounding the world of horology, it is unquestionably one of the biggest events in the luxury calendar. It serves as a platform for the world’s leading watchmakers to showcase exactly what they have got in store over the next twelve months or so. And, safe say to say, there are some mightily impressive timepieces on the horizon from the likes of Rolex, Hublot and Breitling.

Courtesy of the chaps at The Watch Gallery, we have exclusive images from the event and there have definitely been some incredible luxury watches unveiled over the last few days – some of which you will soon be seeing below.

The event kicked off with some pretty impressive watches and, as many had anticipated, Rolex certainly took no prisoners with their stand at the event which measured a rather substantial 1230 square metres and took six weeks to construct.

Obviously, people don’t attend Baselworld to marvel at an impressive stand – they were there to see the watches and Rolex definitely didn’t let anyone down on this front either, with some truly exceptional watches on show in their gargantuan stand at BaselWorld. Take a look at the Rolex stand a selection of the watches that they unveiled below:

For those capable of dragging themselves away from the Rolex stand, the Zenith one was also a pretty impressive set-up as well. Made all the more enticing by the fact that they had the Austrian daredevil, Felix Baumgartner on hand to help launch a brand new range of Zenith Pilot watches and, perhaps more impressively and exciting, showing off the watch he wore during his descent to earth late last year. See the watch worn by Baumgartner during his speed of sound fall to earth below:

For those who are bitten by the adrenaline bug and feel the need for speed, the Hublot stand at BaselWorld was the place to be as they were showcasing their partnership with luxury Italian car maker, Ferrari – the Hublot Masterpiece MP-05 LaFerrari watch (shown below):

BaselWorld is an annual event but few years have been capable of showcasing such a stunning array of luxury timepieces as those on show at BaselWorld 2013. Excitement is already high over next year’s event but, such was the quality of the timepieces showcased this year, the fair already has an awful lot to live up to. But, safe to say, nobody expects it to disappoint.
